What is Translation?

This article gives different definitions of what translation means at the beginning. Almosts all of the definitions complete each other. Then it talks about what makes the translation good. How we can translate things thinking their different levels, meaning, culture and audience. It tells that meaning really effects the translation and I agree with this. Because in one culture something may mean different and in other may not. This issue is really important in translation and I think a translator should the culture of the language that s/he translates. The translator should try to give the same meaning as much as posssible in order not to loose the exact meaning in the original one. Trasnlation is not just transferring the sentences to another language, it is more than that. You need to consider too many things expect transferring. For example a translator should consider the audience's background knowledge, the situtation and the shared social conventions.
